10 More Shopping Days at Clothes For Kids

Lynnwood, WA:  Clothes For Kids is pleased to announce that since August 24, 2016 we have provided more than 2600 students with their school wardrobes.  “As we wrap up our 33rd year of service we want to let everyone know that the last day of school shopping for this school year will be Friday February 10, 2017,” said Nancy Laird Burris, Program Manager.  Students that qualify for free or reduced lunch and attend school in Snohomish County or the Northshore School District can go to their school office to request the Clothes For Kids Clothing Requisition Form.

Since 1984, Clothes For Kids, a local non-profit organization, has provided low-income students with school clothing.  “While it is not our mission to create smiles on kids’ faces and looks of relief and hope on those of parents, that is often what happens,” said Mark Cholvin, Clothes For Kids Immediate Past Board President.  “It is not uncommon to hear an excited voice proclaim: ‘Look what I found!’”

Clothes For Kids will use the next several months to fundraise, host clothing drives, and organize work parties to prepare for our back-to-school shopping in mid-August.  “We invite the community to come to our volunteer-organized Rummage Sales on the first weekends of March and June,” said Laird-Burris.  “You will find adult and infant clothing, as well as household items for sale.  We do not sell our school clothing during the rummage sales, and we use the funds raised to invest in more clothing to support our students.”

Schools will have the 2017-18 referral form in June, and students and their families will be able to come back for their next year’s school wardrobe in mid-August.  Over the past five years, Clothes For Kids has served more than 15,000 students throughout Snohomish County and the Northshore School District.

You can help empower students and strengthen families in our community through your advocacy, volunteerism, and donations to Clothes For Kids.
